The Fogarty HIV-associated Tuberculosis Training Program of University of Cape Town is calling for applications for two PhD fellowship opportunities in Basic and Clinical Science.
Basic Scientist PhD Fellowship:

Non-clinician researchers in the fields of epidemiology or biostatistics are also eligible to apply for this fellowship. The funding will cover a stipend (R 250, 000 per annum for 3 years, tax-free) and once-off project cost support (R 200, 000).
Clinician Scientist PhD Fellowship:

The project could be in the field of clinical, laboratory or epidemiology research. The funding will cover a stipend (R 470, 000 per annum for 2 years, tax-free) and once-off project cost support (R 200, 000).

Applications will be considered based on academic merit, the quality of the submitted application and its alignment with the objectives of the Fogarty Program. The availability of co-funding to support the research will also be factored. University of Cape Town’s policies on transformation and equity will be adhered to, with preference given to black South African candidates.
