ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP
The Department of Economics and Management (DEM) of the University of Padova is one of the leading research institutions in Italy for economics and business. The last national research assessment that covered the period 2011-2014 ranked the University of Padova first in the scientific area including economics, business science and statistics. The DEM has been financed by the Italian Ministry of University and Research under the program “Departments of Excellence” for 2018-22 The DEM offers an international Ph.D. program with a long tradition of quality and success that complements the department’s offer of bachelor and master degrees.

FUNDING DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Economics and Management (DEM) of the University of Padova invites excellent students to apply to its PhD Program in Economics and Management (three-year, full-time program). Up to ten scholarships will be offered to the best applicants.
The DEM is a center of excellence in applied economics, accounting, economic theory and management and it is part of one of the world oldest higher education institutions, the University of Padova, located in Italy’s North-East. The DEM offers a stimulating learning and research environment to students from around the world.
The PhD program is composed of two distinct curricula, Economics and Management. Both currricula consist of two parts: rigorous coursework during the first year, and work on the PhD thesis during the second and the third year. The program is open to students from all countries, provided they hold a Master degree or equivalent in economics, business sciences, statistics, mathematics or engineering. Students who are going to graduate until September 30th, 2018 may apply as well.
To apply candidates are invited to submit:
- a research proposal (max 4 pages)
- curriculum vitae
- all degree certificates
- all official transcripts
- proof of English competence (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS but not compulsory)
- two letters of recommendation
- scientific publications (if any)
- a short summary of the Master thesis (max 4 pages)
- GRE general test is not required but warmly recommended.
