The State University of New York at Stony Brook, commonly referred to as SBU, is a public sea-grant and space-grant research university in Stony Brook, New York. It is one of four university centers of the State University of New York system.
The institution was founded 62 years ago in 1957 in Oyster Bay as State University College on Long Island, and moved to Stony Brook in 1962. The university has expanded to include approximately 220 major buildings with a combined area of more than 12.2 million gross square feet across 1,454 acres (5.9 km2) of land.

1. Apply for admission to Stony Brook by the January 15, 2020 deadline.
2. Submit all required credentials (transcripts and TOEFL/SAT scores) by February 1, 2020.
3. Submit the #YouAreWelcomeHere Application in your Stony Brook applicant portal by February 1, 2020 including your 500-1000 word essay or a two-to-five minute video (include link to video or e-mail it separately to enrollintl@stonybrook.edu) telling us about your leadership skills in your school or community, and how you plan to continue applying your leadership skills at Stony Brook University. You will be sent login information for your applicant portal several days after submitting your application for admission.
