Freshman
The Freshman Leadership Scholarship is a $2,000 annual award for outstanding undergraduate students who enroll at the University as first-time freshmen. A maximum of 15 scholarships are awarded annually. Students selected for the Leadership Scholarship who enroll at Webster University participate in WebsterLEADS, the University’s leadership development program. Through classes, retreats, and practical experiences, the WebsterLEADS program provides opportunities to develop your leadership skills and philosophy, which culminates in receiving the Leadership Certificate upon graduation. Not only are Leadership Scholarship recipients among the most dynamic and involved students on campus, alumni of the WebsterLEADS program report how valuable the experience is in preparing them for the world of work and graduate study upon graduation from Webster.

To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must submit the following materials by February 12, 2018:
1. Completed Application for Admission (including all required supporting materials)
2. Completed Leadership Scholarship Application
3. Personal essay with the following prompt: “Imagine yourself as a senior approaching your graduation from Webster University. What do you hope to have learned about leading as a global citizen? What do you hope your leadership legacy will be at Webster upon graduation? » (Recommended length is 300-500 words. (Please upload your essay on this form below.)
4. Leadership and Activities Summary that lists the clubs, organizations, and community activities in which you have been involved during your high school years and any office or leadership positions held. (Please upload your leadership summary on this form below.)
Finalists are chosen on the basis of their academic background (curriculum, grade point average, and test scores), essay, and involvement in leadership activities.
The scholarship is renewable and may be combined with other merit-based scholarship(s) previously awarded up to the full cost of tuition. Awardees must maintain full-time (13 credit hours or more), continuous enrollment at Webster and a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). Renewable for a total of eight consecutive semesters (Fall and Spring only) or until completion of 128 credit hours, one half of the annual scholarship amount will be applied to each semester’s tuition charges. The Freshman Leadership Scholarship may be applied to tuition charges for study abroad at any of Webster University’s international campuses.
