Government, non-government and professional agencies constantly call for change and improvement in how healthcare is delivered. This PhD is for someone who sees themselves making a real difference to health outcomes. The candidate will learn and develop the field of knowledge translation and improve professional behaviour change, setting themselves up for either a future in academia or in policy or practice settings.
This PhD scholarship will be hosted by the Implementing work-related Mental health guidelines in general PRacticE (IMPRovE) trial. It may be based at Monash University or at the University of Sydney.
IMPRovE is funded by an NHMRC Partnership Grant in partnership Beyond Blue and with Commonwealth and state-based compensation schemes from across Australia. Our key objectives are to increase the delivery of evidence-based general practice care for patients, assess the cost-effectiveness of our intervention and plan for national scale-up. Components of the intervention include academic detailing, peer-to-peer support through a digital Community of Practice and the provision of resources.
As the PhD candidate, you will develop and use implementation skills and theory to evaluate the IMPRovE guideline implementation intervention. Specifically, under guidance, you will characterise the aspects of the intervention and our partnership approach that are likely to lead to ongoing successful guideline-informed care in general practice, and to characterise aspects that may hinder success. Throughout your PhD, you will work closely with the IMPRovE Executive Team, Steering Group and Implementation Team; comprising clinicians, researchers, and our high-level policy and practice partners from across the country.

3 year fixed-term appointment will give remuneration: $27,872 AUD per annum full-time rate (tax-free).
