Kaiserslautern (100,000 inhabitants) is located in the heart of the European Union, by the famous, recreational Palatinate Forest and close to the French border in the west. Frankfurt airport is a 90-minute train ride away. Kaiserslautern offers all the amenities of a modern city, including a rich and vivid culture and sports scene. For 36 months, the PhD students will pursue their research supervised by a professor of the University of Kaiserslautern. In general, supervisor and student determine the topic of the PhD thesis in cooperation with a company, often via the “Fraunhofer-Institute for Industrial Mathematics” (ITWM).
