University of Portsmouth – UK

The university’s roots go back to 1869, with the founding of Portsmouth and Gosport School of Science and Art – set up to train engineers and skilled workmen for the city docks and the Royal Navy dockyard.
In the 1960s it was renamed Portsmouth Polytechnic, and was one of the largest polytechnics in the UK, before being granted university status in 1992.
By 2016 the university had expanded to 20,000 students on campus, with a further 4,000 studying off-campus through online learning, and with partners in the UK and abroad.
The university has five Faculties: Science, Technology, Creative & Cultural Industries, Humanities & Social Sciences, and Portsmouth Business School.
