Wuhan University – China

Wuhan University, one of China’s oldest and most esteemed institutions of higher learning, traces its roots back to the Ziqiang Institute founded in 1893 by Zhang Zhidong. Zhang, then governor of Hubei and Hunan provinces during the Qing Dynasty, established the institute with the vision of advancing education and intellectual pursuits in the region. Originally named Ziqiang Shuyuan, it aimed to foster scholarly excellence amidst the cultural and political changes of the late 19th century.
